Renewal

I have been spending a week in Portland, what fun.  Being in a new place brings a sense of renewal, newfound energy.  It is one of the best feelings.Personally I cultivate this feeling all the time, it is one of the points of having coaching calls (a weekly renewal), it is the powerful feeling after the Mountain Experience (the world looks new as a result), it is what happens to a company after we do a Corporate Renewal (we find ourselves working in a re-energized environment).I cultivate renewal on different cycles.Life changing experiences, including being born, graduating, rite-of-passage, marriage, change of work, the Mountain Experience, other experiences that touch you deeply, retirement, death… these are lifetime cycles of renewal, once in a lifetime renewals.Annually we can renew with vacations (I have been using the word holiday lately I like it better), personal retreats, life assessments, religious or secular holidays and events, Corporate Renewals, One-Days (one-on-one coaching intensive), company picnics, family reunions… can renew us, re-invigorate our lives.Weekly we can take a day for family, the beach, the mountains, we can do a coaching call, have a lesson, invite friends over, go dancing… what renews you?Daily we can meditate, do some yoga, exercise, read an inspiring book or passage, have some quiet time, take a bath, go for a swim, snuggle, cook a nice meal and sit down to it… do you have any special 5 minute renewals that work for you?  Sometimes it only takes 3 deep conscious breaths.  How have you been breathing lately? When was the last time you felt renewed?  What did you do to feel that way?Renewal is springtime for your spirit, your energy.  If you are feeling stagnant or are living in a system (business, family, home, friendship…) get to renewing it, it might be just a matter of giving it some attention and shaking things up.
