We spend a tremendous amount of time and energy avoiding feelings.
Sometime when you are triggered, simply stop and feel what you are experiencing.Instead of justifying, avoiding, explaining, talking, drinking, exercising, checking out, arguing, complaining, criticizing, sleeping, watching TV, eating, having sex, etc… just feel what you are feeling.
Close your eyes, feel your physical body, where do you feel the energy?
Now like tasting wine or some other delicacy, explore the feeling without judgment, without words, just let yourself fully feel it. Let it expand get bigger, get lost in it. You may find that it is not so bad.Fully explore the feeling every nuance and physical and emotional. Don’t analyze or think about it, just experience it.
Fear, hurt, sadness, anger…none of the feelings are so bad if we are just willing to experience them without judgment.
You may find that by just experiencing your feelings they have less power or importance.
You may find that they are giving you important information that you miss when you ignore them.
Start to become more comfortable with feelings, you have the capacity to experience them, they are not so bad.
