It's Amazing What We Are Capable Of!

Recent brain research has revealed that novelty and surprise is the trigger for the experience of happiness. To stay happy we must continue to keep our lives vital through change. Most of us do this through shopping, food, drink, sometimes even drama and conflict. This link between happiness and newness is actually there to stimulate our evolutionary drive, our curiosity, our desire to overcome and make things better.

Our culture often tempts us with distractions that are easier, less demanding on our courage, that artificially simulate the sensation of change and development. Many of our addictions come out of this desire to replace our personal evolution with artificial sources. We often stumble in a haze because we are not willing to engage our consciousness in that deepest part of ourselves that loves to develop, change, experience renewal, the part of you that yearns for fresh insight and awakening.

Find a way for that part of yourself to be exercised every day. That is what keeps us fresh, vital, and happy. It is amazing what we are capable of. Working with people I have learned that all transformation is possible.

Think of something that you would like to be different in your life three months from now. I am not looking for global transformation; this is not total personal perfection, just one specific but meaningful aspect of your life. You could choose an attitude, the quality of some relationship, part of your business, family, or even better yet a quality in yourself. Write it down.

What resources would you be willing to commit to having this new aspect manifest in your life if you believed you would get the result? Time, attention, giving something up, money, ego, identity, pattern, security, commitment, asking for help, reading a book? Write it down.

What support do you need to accomplish this new way of experiencing life? Write it down.

What would you experience in your life if you manifest this new thing? Write it down.

What is the hidden thing, the part you don’t consciously acknowledge that is keeping your from realizing your vision? These are the things that keep us from dreaming. Reflect deeply and write it down.

Share your vision and your thoughts and feelings with a friend.
