What Serves You?

Inquiry Method has a powerful tool for knowing if what you are doing actually serves you.It is called light and heavy. We are used to using our minds and our thoughts to make decisions. This is important for learning facts and analyzing a situation but not very useful to see if something is right for you. When faced with a decision the most useful tool is Light and Heavy.

  1. Identify your choices.
  2. Clear out your thinking about the implications.
  3. Picture yourself going down the path of one of your choices.
  4. Do you feel light or heavy? (This does not mean it might not be hard or scary or challenging) You can trust your body, your inner-knowing.
  5. Try the other options, light or heavy?
  6. If they all feel heavy there is probably more inquiry to do around this topic, trust your inner-knowing.
  7. Pick the course of action that feels lightest, this will be the one that serves you the best.

We have all been taught not to trust lightness to some degree, that it will make us slack and weak, I do not find this to be true.Light and heavy has saved me many times from going down the wrong path.Is there something that you are doing, or planning to do that currently feels heavy? Give yourself a choice; take another look at all your options. You can and deserve a life that is light and joyful.
