Why Relationships Degrade Over Time

Hi all! Olivia here. Thanksgiving is, at its best, a time to cherish your family and friends and be thankful for all the love between you. We know that the holidays can get complicated and messy because it's not always just love between you. This video is about romantic relationships but it can also be applied to others. Our greatest wish for you, this holiday season, is to find harmony, peace, and joy with those you love. We hope that this video helps you find that with your family this year.

Have you ever wondered how a relationship that started with so much passion and love can end badly? I know I have. Kyle walks us through why partnerships can often take an ugly turn, why sex is the first thing to go, and how to prevent this from happening.

Watch the video below to hear the full conversation.

KEY TAKE-AWAYS:

  • Relationships start with deep acceptance and play. Over time we start to find our points of challenge.

  • If there isn’t safety in the relationship to discuss your challenges then you start to withhold, don’t share, and stuff your issues. As soon as you stuff something then you create a layer between yourself and the intimacy.

  • If you are willing to share the challenges and work through them then it keeps opening the relationship to more and more intimacy.

  • You HAVE to be doing your personal work too. You can’t work out everything with your partner. When things come up in your relationship do your work on it, with your coach or therapist, and then bring back your personal discoveries and share that with your partner.

  • Sex is the first thing to go in a relationship because it’s one of our greatest points of vulnerability. When we start to withhold things in our relationship the sex dies as our intimacy goes away.

  • It’s hard to meet another person when we have to wade through all our own issues. If you clean up your own mess then it becomes easier and easier to meet another person.

If you find yourself needing extra support this holiday season, set up a call to find out how we can help, here.

We hope that you have a very happy Thanksgiving. We are very grateful to have you in our lives. It is only with your support and love that we are able to continue our mission to help people achieve a Life at Altitude.

Cheers to living your best life,
Kyle, Peggy, and Olivia
