The 3 Roles of Leadership
As leaders, our primary three roles or duties are creating and maintaining the following: 1) vision, 2) structure, and 3) accountability.Vision refers to creating and sharing where we are going so that everyone knows how to participate.Structure refers to creating and implementing the structure of relationships within a business, for example: the organizational chart or the flow of customers or product through the organization.Accountability refers to creating the desire within individuals to contribute to the organization and follow through with commitments, duties, and participation in the vision and structure.If you are not actively engaged in all three of these things, you are not fulfilling your role as a leader. None of these things will reliably happen on its own.
