Hope and Doubt During Covid-19

Hey everyone. Olivia here. A couple of clients this week wrote in about the place of hope and doubt in this current climate. Kyle has a unique take on both so we thought we would share his ideas with you.

Key Take-Aways:

  • Neither hope nor doubt are very helpful to us. Hope is a way of disconnecting and looking for something to make us feel good. We doubt to protect ourselves from being disappointed if our hoping leads is to no avail.

  • The most valuable thing is to see clearly.

  • This virus and this experience is an incredible gift. That doesn’t discount how difficult, painful, or tragic it might be.

  • It difficult to have to isolate ourselves and face ourselves but it’s also an opportunity. Kyle has what he calls his “quarantine mission” and thinks it would be wonderful if everyone had a quarantine mission. His mission is to explore, acknowledge, and love himself more than he ever has before.

  • A lot of Kyle’s clients have expressed that they have never felt freer. They’ve dropped all their drive, the pushing to be more and do more, and are beginning to ask themselves what they truly want to do.

  • Instead of hope and doubt, Kyle encourages you to find a quarantine project. He suggests that it centers on a relationship with yourself, such as, exploring yourself, approving of yourself, or loving yourself.

  • We can have all sorts of imaginings about how this is all going to turn out, how it will impact our society, the economy, or the political impact but that is all out of our control. Even experts in various fields have no idea what’s going to happen.

  • Hope and doubt are both responses to fear. It’s okay to feel fear. Everyone does. It’s more powerful to create a personal intention for yourself, such as how you are going to be, experience yourself, and show up for yourself and others at this time.

  • How creative can you be? How imaginative can you be? How can you transform yourself so that you emerge from all of this with a more beautiful life?

What I took away from this blog is that it’s always better to stay in the moment. We can’t always change the world but we can change what we feel, think, and believe about it. The crazy thing is when we remain present and change our inside then it often does have an effect on our outer circumstances and those around us. Remember, you are more powerful than you know!

We are having lots of fun community events to stay connected during this time. See our full calendar here (including a discussion of this blog)

We are rooting for you. We love you. We are here for you!
