Control

How do we manage ourselves and operate in our world? This seems like a fundamental question. Two of the tools we are given are control and will power.

Fear sponsors control. When we are afraid of something we want to get control, for example, if we are afraid of rejection we might want to control our weight. In general, control is against something, “I want to control the behavior of my children” or “I want to control my eating”.

We can want to control the world or we can work to control ourselves. Unfortunately, in the end, control does not seem to be very effective and requires a lot of energy. Control is usually against something and it often takes constant energy in some form and often elicits resistance.

Instead of control of the world or myself I have been working toward alignment and harmony with what is happening around me and with myself. This is hugely energy efficient and I seem to be getting great results—“going with the flow” as it were.

In a way, harmony and alignment are created by answering the question, “what is wanted?” by life or my being, rather than the question we are usually trying to solve “what do I want?” which is a very problematic and confusing question.

“But if I just go with the flow how do I create my life”?

Control does not create a life, it just limits it. Once we are in harmony and alignment with life, then we can use something else to direct and grow from that is much more powerful than control…

Stay tuned next week for “Will Power.”
